Creating the New Story of Leadership
Cheryl Esposito welcomes Betty Sue Flowers, Ph.D., international business consultant, poet, editor, educator, and former Director of the LBJ Presidential Library.
Friday March 6, 2015 10:00 am PST Pacific Time
Betty Sue has authored and edited many books, including co-authoring Presence: Human Purpose & the Field of the Future. Betty Sue consults on and facilitates global scenario planning for multi-national corporations, NGO’s and governments. Is the leader of today ready for the world of the future? As opportunity goes global, and uncertainty is the one constant, a different story of leadership is emerging.
Betty Sue’s work in the power of story includes four books in collaboration with Bill Moyers: Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth; A World of Ideas; Healing and the Mind; and Genesis. She was consultant on Moyer’s nationally televised series, “The Power of Myth.” Betty Sue worked with an international team to write Global Scenarios for Shell International in London—stories about the future of the world for the next 30 years. She has edited a book in conjunction with Joseph Jaworski on the inner dimensions of leadership, Synchronicity. She co-authored with Jaworski, Peter Senge and Otto Scharmer Presence: Human Purpose and the Field of the Future. Flowers was the editor of global scenarios for sustainable development and scenarios for the future of biotechnology, both sponsored by the World Business Council in Geneva. And just to round out her world perspective, she has published three books of poetry – Four Shields of Power (with three other poets), Extending the Shade, and Blue Lioness.
Is the leader of today ready for the world of the future? As opportunity goes global, and uncertainty is the one constant, a different story of leadership is emerging. Betty Sue challenges leaders to sense and help actualize emerging futures in part by using spiritual disciplines as tools. Can we shape the future by shaping the story?
Listen in as Cheryl Esposito & Betty Sue Flowers explore a different story of leadership.
